Endoscopic ultrasound is a procedure which combines endoscopy and ultrasound to produce detailed images of the lining and walls of your digestive tract and nearby organs such as liver, pancreas, gallbladder and lymph nodes. In addition, it is also used to stage cancers (determine severity), detect small tumors, evaluate chronic abdominal pain, determine if there are stones in the bile duct and allow your doctor to perform a fine needle biopsy of any abnormal growth or cysts. This procedure is only done at the hospital.
