What if it's after hours and I have problems with the preparation?
You can still call our main number! Press zero to get through to the call center, and they’ll send a message to the on call doctor who will call you back when they get a chance.
What should I bring?
Please bring your license, insurance card, and any payments owed.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (and leave your valuables at home)
What medications should I take the morning of the procedure?
For any blood thinners, and diabetes medication, please consult your doctor. You can continue to take your regular medications unless told otherwise.
How long will the procedure take?
While the procedure itself takes about 10-30 minutes, plan on being in the facility for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Can my ride wait inside?
Yes, as long as your ride is free from illness and wears a mask while here, they are welcome to wait for you. Either way, we will call them when you enter the recovery room, which is approximately 30 minutes from when you will leave the building.
Can I take an Uber?
It is our policy to release you to a responsible adult. So, if they will be taking the Uber/Lyft with you, then it’s OK. But you cannot take it on your own.
I lost my preparation instructions, where do I find new ones?
On the left side of this page is a tab that says, ‘prep instructions’, you’ll find our commonly used preps there. If you can’t remember which one you were given, just call the office!
My procedure is scheduled for next week, should I be doing anything to prepare?
You should be eating a LOW fiber diet (Low Fiber Diet MSKCC) starting about 5 days before your procedure.
Can I drink coffee while prepping?
Yes, you can drink coffee. Just limit the amount of milk or cream in the coffee on the day of preparation. On the day of your procedure, please do NOT have any cream or milk in the coffee. You may have it black, during the time you are allowed to still drink liquids only.
It's already like water when I go to the bathroom- can I just skip the morning laxative?
NO! The right side of the colon develops a film overnight which makes it difficult to see anything without lots of extra washing. It is VERY important to take that morning part.
