This procedure may be ordered by your doctor to evaluate the entire length of your small intestine, which is about 20 feet long. It may help with diagnosing the source of intestinal bleeding, inflammation or in order to look for tumors. You will swallow a pill which contains a camera. As it travels through the intestines, it captures thousands of images that wirelessly transmit to a recorder that is worn on the outside of the body and returned to us. The pill camera is passed with your bowel movement and does not need to be retrieved.
