Colon Cancer Screening

Colonoscopy is a procedure which allows your doctor to examine the entire large intestine also known as the colon with a long, thin, flexible tube with a camera at the end. One of the main purposes of having a colonoscopy is to screen for colon cancer. It is also used for evaluation and treatment of numerous lower GI tract disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, rectal bleeding, any change in bowel habits, abdominal pain, colon cancer, colon polyps and any abnormal imaging test (i.e., CT scan). A bowel preparation is required.
