Hemorrhoidal banding is a procedure done in the office in order to treat hemorrhoids. A small device is inserted into the rectum and a rubber band is put around a hemorrhoid in order to cut off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid, causing it to shrink and eventually fall off with the rubber band. This may need to be done multiple times to treat all of the hemorrhoids. There is no preparation nor any sedation required for this procedure.
