Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

Upper endoscopy is a procedure using a long, thin flexible tube with a camera at the end to examine the upper gastrointestinal tract via the mouth. It may be used to determine the cause of swallowing difficulties, bleeding, abdominal pain, in order to screen for Barrett’s esophagus (a precancerous condition), or diagnose acid reflux injury most commonly.
