Flexible Sigmodioscopy

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure to examine the lower portion of your large intestine or colon with a long, thin, flexible tube with a camera at the end. It does not allow your doctor to see the entire large intestine in the way that a colonoscopy would. Your doctor may recommend this test to evaluate a number of symptoms such as rectal bleeding, follow up of certain inflammatory disorders, abdominal pain, rectal pain, or change in bowel habits. A full bowel prep is not usually required.
